Head of Biology

An ‘Outstanding’ graded comprehensive school and sixth form in Hackney are seeking a Head of Biology to lead and inspire the hardworking biology department for a September 2026 start. This is a permanent, full‑time contract, paid on the Inner London Scale + TLR.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the biology department.
• Inspire and motivate the younger generation.
• Collaborate with other biology teachers to maintain best practice.

Qualifications (Person Specification)

• UK QTS or in the process of gaining.
• Strong academic background (degree, A Levels, GCSEs).
• Meeting the Eight Teaching Standards at ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ level.
• Biology teaching experience with the ability to lead from the front using best practice.
• Willing to listen to feedback.
