Director of Scientific Collections

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is seeking its first Director of Scientific Collections. The postholder will develop and implement a vision for future curation, development, and open mobilisation of Kew’s scientific collections to maximise societal and scientific impact and support our Science Strategy.

• Lead a division of diverse collections staff, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
• Oversee development and long-term ownership of scientific collections and produce scientific papers and reports.
• Generate income for collections‑based research.
• Promote the use of Kew’s scientific collections nationally and internationally, collaborating with other institutions worldwide.
• Drive international standards of best practice and share learnings.
• Inspire a new generation of professionals working with collections.
• Support an inclusive and nurturing culture where all colleagues can thrive and progress their careers.

The successful candidate will have experience in the development and long-term ownership of scientific collections; a proven track record in writing scientific papers and reports; and successful income‑generation for collections‑based research.
