You will help provide the consistency, care and encouragement they need to feel secure, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes. From supporting daily routines and emotional wellbeing to leading shifts and guiding colleagues, you will help children and young people feel valued, respected and supported in a place they can call home. You will take a lead role within the team, supporting high standards of care while building positive and meaningful relationships with children, young people and their families. Take a lead role during shifts, helping to create a calm, safe and nurturing home environment where children and young people feel secure, valued and supported* Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people, providing consistent care, guidance and emotional support throughout their daily lives* Support children and young people with routines including meals, education, appointments, activities, hobbies and bedtime routines, helping to create structure, stability and positive experiences* Encourage independence, confidence and life skills while supporting children and young people to achieve their individual goals and outcomes* Provide high quality personal care with dignity, compassion and respect at all times* Act as a key worker, helping to develop, implement and review care plans, risk assessments and individual support strategies* Support children and young people during difficult or challenging moments using a therapeutic, relationship-based approach that promotes safety, understanding and positive outcomes* Work closely with families, education staff and external professionals to ensure children and young people receive joined-up, person centred support* Lead by example within the team, offering guidance and support to colleagues while helping maintain high standards of care and practice across the service* Support the smooth and safe running of the home, including medication management, recording, safeguarding responsibilities and contributing to a positive living environment* Encourage children and young people to take part in activities, community opportunities and experiences that support wellbeing, social development and confidence building* Contribute to creating a warm, welcoming and family-style home where children and young people can feel cared for, listened to and encouraged to thrive What we are looking for We are looking for someone who has experience supporting children and young people, particularly those with additional support needs, within a residential or care setting. You will be confident taking on responsibility within a team and able to support colleagues while maintaining high standards of care and practice. You will bring a calm, compassionate and resilient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships and create a supportive environment where children and young people can feel safe, respected and encouraged to achieve their potential. You should have strong communication and organisational skills, be able to work effectively under pressure, and understand the importance of providing consistent, relationship-based care. For this role, you must hold an SVQ Level 3 in Social Care (Children) or HNC (SCQF Level 7). A full manual driving licence is essential.
