Consultant Rheumatologist

Location: Birmingham – Community Rheumatology Services

Contract Type: Part-Time

Rate: £150 per hour

Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team delivering rapid access rheumatology care across multiple community clinic locations, helping reduce unnecessary secondary care referrals while improving patient access and outcomes.

Both employed and contractor arrangements will be considered, alongside full-time and part-time options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver face-to-face and virtual rheumatology outpatient clinics
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of rheumatological conditions
  • Provide expert clinical opinion, prescribing, and treatment planning
  • Triage new referrals and manage ongoing patient caseloads
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, and GPs
  • Participate in MDT meetings, audits, governance, and service development initiatives
  • Support education, supervision, and training within the wider clinical team
  • Maintain accurate documentation using SystmOne and other clinical systems

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with Specialist Registration
  • CCT in Rheumatology
  • Strong rheumatology outpatient experience
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage clinical caseloads

Desirable

  • Community rheumatology experience
  • Experience teaching or supervising clinicians
  • Research, audit, or service development involvement
  • Experience using SystmOne
