Location: Birmingham
Job Description:

A leading construction contractor is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager to play a key role on a flagship UK infrastructure programme. This is a high-impact position with genuine influence over project delivery, environmental performance, and long-term sustainability strategy.

Location: This is a hybrid role split approximately 50/50 between the Sizewell C project and regional projects. You will also report into a regional office in either Birmingham, Leicester or Derby, with regular travel expected.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Shaping environmental and sustainability performance across major construction projects, embedding best practice from design through delivery.
  • Driving carbon, materials, and environmental management strategies that influence real-world project outcomes.
  • Partnering with site teams, engineers, and leadership to turn sustainability commitments into practical, deliverable actions.
  • Engaging with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure compliance while enhancing project reputation and performance.
  • Using data, audits, and reporting to identify risks, drive improvement, and showcase environmental and sustainability impact.

What we’re ideally looking for:

  • A construction-experienced environmental or sustainability professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced project environments.
  • Someone confident influencing site teams and senior stakeholders, translating technical requirements into actionable solutions.
  • A strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, carbon management, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., PAS 2080, ISO 14001, BREEAM).
  • Experience embedding environmental and sustainability processes across live construction projects, not just at policy level.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with the drive to shape how major infrastructure projects are delivered more sustainably.
