Climate17 is working with a well-capitalised, fast-growing distributed energy platform backed by a major global infrastructure investor to appoint a Commercial Manager – BESS.

This is a newly created, high-impact role sitting at the intersection of battery storage strategy, commercial optimisation, route-to-market execution and investment analysis.

The business has an extensive pipeline of distributed solar PV and battery storage projects across the UK and Europe and offers a unique opportunity to shape how BESS is integrated, optimised and commercialised across a rapidly growing portfolio.

The role will suit someone who combines strong commercial instincts and deal-making capability with credible technical knowledge of battery storage systems and energy markets.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Developing and executing BESS commercial and optimisation strategies
  • Assessing revenue stacking and route-to-market opportunities
  • Managing relationships with aggregators, optimisers and trading partners
  • Supporting origination and development teams on new BESS opportunities
  • Building techno-economic and financial models for storage projects
  • Supporting strategic decision-making across the wider portfolio

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • Strong experience within behind-the-meter (BTM) BESS
  • Exposure to flexibility markets, ancillary services and energy trading strategies
  • Techno-economic modelling and revenue forecasting experience
  • A background within IPPs, infrastructure investors, asset owners or distributed energy platforms
  • The ability to bridge technical delivery with commercial outcomes
