Job Title: Design Manager

We are working with a growing façades subcontractor delivering building envelope packages across London and the South East.
The business covers SFS, cladding, glazing, and remediation works, typically across projects ranging from £3m–£20m. With a strong pipeline of repeat work, they are now looking to appoint a Design Manager to support continued growth.
The Role
This is a hands-on position taking ownership of façade design across multiple projects. You will manage a small in-house design team, oversee technical submissions, and ensure projects are delivered in line with programme and current regulations.
This role would suit someone practical, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced subcontractor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate façade design across multiple projects
- Lead and support a small in-house design team
- Prepare and review technical submissions and design documentation
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, particularly fire and safety requirements
- Work closely with project managers, consultants, and site teams
- Manage design programmes, deadlines, and design changes
- Support buildability and provide technical input during pre-construction
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in façades design
- Proven experience producing technical submissions and managing design documentation
- Experience managing or coordinating a design team
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK building regulations (particularly fire compliance)
- Comfortable working to project programmes and deadlines
- Detail-focused, reliable, and organised
- Experience mentoring or developing junior designers
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Broad knowledge across façade systems and materials
