Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quality Inspector to support quality assurance and control activities on a critical defence programme at the BAE Systems site in Barrow-in-Furness, on behalf of Bureau Veritas. The successful candidate will ensure all electrical installation, inspection, and testing activities comply with stringent regulatory, client, and industry quality standards within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment.

The role will be working on a 12 Month+ Contract – Outside of IR35

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of electrical installations, systems, and components.
  • Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and electrical standards.
  • Review and validate electrical test results and certification documentation.
  • Witness and sign off testing activities including FAT/SAT where required.
  • Ensure adherence to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality procedures.
  • Raise, document, and track non-conformances (NCRs) and ensure close-out.
  • Interface with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Maintain accurate QA/QC records and inspection reports.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Quality Inspector within a regulated industry.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical installation standards (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
  • Experience with inspection, testing, and commissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC documentation and reporting systems.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience on BAE Systems Barrow site or defence programmes.
  • Marine, submarine, or nuclear sector experience.
  • CompEx or similar hazardous area certification.
  • 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience within major EPC or construction projects.

Security Clearance & Compliance Requirements

  • Role is subject to UK National Security Vetting.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
  • Preference for candidates holding active SC clearance.
  • Typically requires UK residency for the last 5 years.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Must complete security vetting before site access.
  • Must adhere to all site security and confidentiality protocols.
