As a Supervisor, you will play a central role in delivering highway maintenance and improvement works safely and effectively. You will guide site teams, coordinate resources, and ensure projects meet quality expectations while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction. Working closely with operational leads, you will help create a positive, high performing environment where teams can thrive and deliver excellent outcomes.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and support operational teams delivering highway works on site
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed
  • Plan and allocate labour, plant, and materials to meet programme needs
  • Deliver site inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks to support team readiness
  • Monitor progress and quality, ensuring work meets required standards
  • Maintain accurate site records such as diaries, logs, and reports
  • Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues to resolve issues
  • Support traffic management and temporary works on site
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery, performance, and efficiency
  • Ensure all works align with environmental and regulatory requirements


Essential skills and requirements


  • Confident leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Good planning and organisational skills, with effective prioritisation
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and decision making
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing for yourself and others
  • Awareness of environmental and sustainability considerations
  • Ability to use digital tools and systems for reporting and coordination
  • Customer focused mindset with a collaborative approach to working
  • Technical understanding of highway or civil engineering activities
  • Relevant certifications such as SSSTS or SMSTS, NRSWA or First Aid are valued
