Details:

Location – Leven, Scotland

Contract length - 12 months

Working model – On-site

Start date - ASAP


Role Duties

  • Lead capital engineering projects from initial concept through design, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk‑mitigation activities.
  • Take full ownership of project delivery, ensuring progress, prioritisation, and alignment across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Control project scope, costs, and timelines, including assessing, managing, and approving change where required.
  • Ensure all work complies with site safety standards, construction regulations, and relevant industrial safety legislation.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across project design, implementation, and asset lifecycle.
  • Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Translate operational and business needs into clear technical requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Apply engineering expertise to develop practical, compliant solutions for industrial environments.
  • Manage external design partners and contractors to ensure design quality, installation standards, and project compliance.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure the technical integrity of engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists to ensure adherence to internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and support validation of installations and systems.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, sustainability improvements, and process optimisation.
  • Build and lead multi‑disciplinary project teams while maintaining robust documentation and reporting.
  • Provide regular project status updates using established reporting tools and frameworks.
  • Capture project learnings and support continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, and processes.
  • Manage relationships with operations, leadership teams, suppliers, contractors, procurement, and finance.
  • Balance competing stakeholder priorities while maintaining transparency on schedule, cost, and risk.
  • Oversee supplier and contractor performance across safety, quality, cost, scope, and delivery.
  • Support contract administration, commercial risk management, budget control, cash‑flow forecasting, and value delivery.
  • Contribute to financial evaluations including ROI and NPV assessments.


Skills

  • Strong project management capability across planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and change control.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously and prioritise based on business risk.
  • Solid technical engineering knowledge with broad awareness of mechanical, electrical, civil, process, and control systems.
  • Ability to convert operational needs into clear technical requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring technical quality and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and construction compliance in industrial environments.
  • Ability to lead and promote a positive safety culture across teams and contractors.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills with a focus on practical, compliant, value‑driven engineering solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across operators, leadership, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional and multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Commercial awareness including supplier management, budget control, cost assessment, and contract administration.
  • Financial literacy to support forecasting, contingency planning, ROI, and NPV analysis.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and governance.
  • Ability to identify and drive continuous improvement in tools, templates, standards, and ways of working.
  • Strong digital literacy: Microsoft 365, MS Project, SharePoint, SAP DEP, and familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Personal strengths: communication, teamwork, resilience, adaptability, and proactive delivery.


Education

  • Degree in Engineering, ideally Electrical Engineering.
  • Other relevant engineering disciplines also considered.
  • HND/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline with strong practical experience also acceptable.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) desirable but not essential.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., APM PMQ or equivalent) desirable.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or similar health & safety qualification desirable.
