Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 + benefits & bonuses (depending on experience)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate and or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established, International Multidisciplinary Consultancy. The selected candidate will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis from our client’s Central London offices. You will work on technically challenging and high-profile Education, Healthcare, Commercial and Residential infrastructure projects through RIBA Stages 3-5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems (HVAC)
  • Develop mechanical design strategies, concepts, and detailed solutions
  • Manage HVAC mechanical design projects from initial feasibility through detailed design and final handover.
  • Undertake and oversee thermal, comfort, and energy analysis and calculations of buildings and spaces
  • Prepare and manage models, drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines, architects, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, and quality standards
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and technical approvals
  • Support sustainability and low-carbon design approaches across projects

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the building services industry and HVAC Design
  • Proven experience leading projects through concept, detailed design, and delivery stages
  • Strong experience working on Residential, Education and Commercial projects
  • Demonstrable experience working within multidisciplinary design teams
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit Software is essential
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and design standards
  • Knowledge of sustainable and low-carbon design principles
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Proactive problem-solver with a delivery-focused mindset
  • Ambition to achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised professional institution (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE)
