Technical Director – Retail | E-Commerce – Circa 150k
London | Hybrid – 2-3 days p/w onsite
We are partnering with a highly respected international luxury consumer brand undergoing significant technology and operational evolution. This is a newly created leadership role with broad responsibility across technology strategy, architecture, digital platforms, enterprise systems, operational resilience and delivery governance.
The business operates across retail, eCommerce, logistics, customer platforms, trading operations and data-led customer engagement, with technology now central to its next phase of growth.
The opportunity:
The Technical Director will provide overall technical leadership across a complex and evolving technology estate, ensuring platforms, delivery teams and partners operate cohesively and effectively.
This role is not about transformation for transformation’s sake. The focus is on thoughtful modernisation, operational stability, commercial value and long-term scalability.
You will work closely with senior leadership to shape technology direction, investment priorities and operating models across the organisation.
Key areas of responsibility:
• Define and lead the overall technology strategy and roadmap
• Oversee architecture, service delivery, engineering standards and delivery governance
• Ensure operational resilience, scalability and platform reliability
• Align digital, data, ERP and customer technologies into a coherent operating model
• Lead strategic technology suppliers and delivery partners
• Balance innovation with commercial discipline and risk management
• Build confidence with executive stakeholders through calm, credible leadership
We are looking for:
• Proven senior technology leadership experience within complex organisations
• Broad technical understanding across digital, enterprise platforms, integrations, infrastructure and cyber security
• Strong commercial judgement and experience aligning technology to business outcomes
• Track record leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivery portfolios
• Experience improving operational maturity, governance and technology effectiveness
• A measured, pragmatic leadership style with strong stakeholder credibility
