Pertemps Network Group are delighted to be supporting a London local authority in the appointment of a Head of Litigation (Law)(People), a key senior leadership role within Legal Services, responsible for delivering high-quality, strategic legal advice across complex and high-profile areas.
Rate: 550 per day (inside IR35)
Location: London (hybrid working available)
Flexibility: Hybrid
About the Role
This role will lead a specialist team covering a broad and varied portfolio, including:
Social Care – Adults, Children & Education
Civil & Criminal Litigation
Housing, Employment, ASB & Prosecutions
As part of the Legal Services senior leadership team, you’ll:
- Provide expert legal advice to Directors, Members, and senior officers
- Lead on complex, sensitive and high-risk cases
- Oversee and improve service delivery, performance, and financial management
- Develop strong, trusted relationships across the organisation
- Support wider strategic decision-making and policy development
- Contribute to the vision and direction of Legal Services
You’ll also play a key role in shaping a modern, customer-focused legal function, ensuring services are efficient, resilient, and aligned to organisational priorities.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re keen to speak with candidates who bring:
✔️ Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX (England & Wales)
✔️ Strong experience in local government law
✔️ Expertise in Social Care and/or Litigation
✔️ Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing legal teams
✔️ Experience advising at senior leadership and political level
✔️ Strong strategic thinking and the ability to influence outcomes
✔️ A track record of handling complex and high-profile legal matters
