Role: Assistant Planner

Location: London

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 + Competitive Package

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Planner to join a reputable and growing main contractor delivering a range of high-profile projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional looking to further develop their career within a fast-paced construction environment, working on complex refurbishment, cut & carve, and commercial fit out projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, management, and monitoring of detailed construction programmes
  • Produce and update project schedules using Asta Powerproject
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and commercial teams to track progress and identify potential programme risks
  • Support the planning function across both tender and live projects
  • Prepare short-term and long-term programmes, progress reports, and programme updates
  • Attend project meetings and liaise with subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure programme objectives are achieved
  • Analyse critical paths, sequencing, and construction methodologies to improve project delivery
  • Assist in identifying delays, risks, and opportunities within the programme and propose mitigation strategies
  • Support the successful coordination of logistics, procurement, and construction activities on site
  • Ensure programmes are aligned with project milestones, client expectations, and operational requirements

Requirements

  • Previous experience working for a Main Contractor is essential
  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience using Asta
  • Experience within construction planning, ideally on refurbishment and commercial projects
  • Exposure to: Cut & Carve, CAT A & CAT B, Fit-Out Commercial refurbishment schemes
  • would be highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and project delivery
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within project teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Degree qualified or relevant construction qualification preferred
