Location: London, on-site
Full time / Permanent
We are currently supporting an innovative clinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation engineered immune-cell therapies targeting severe diseases.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated scientist to join a multidisciplinary Process Development team focused on development of advanced cell therapy manufacturing platforms for clinical application.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving process development activities for engineered-cell therapy programmes progressing through clinical development, alongside supporting platform expansion into additional therapeutic indications.
The role will be highly laboratory-based and collaborative, involving close interaction with discovery, translational, manufacturing, quality and clinical teams, as well as external partners and CDMOs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving development and optimisation of cell therapy manufacturing platforms for clinical application
- Designing and executing process development experiments and analysing complex datasets
- Supporting development and optimisation of engineered-cell workflows involving mRNA/nucleic acid delivery technologies
- Contributing technical expertise around transfection, non-viral engineering and engineered immune-cell process optimisation
- Supporting process robustness, manufacturability and scalability activities
- Technology transfer of manufacturing processes into GMP manufacturing environments
- Supporting regulatory and quality documentation activities
- Cross-functional collaboration with internal scientific teams and external partners
- Supporting development of manufacturing workflows for late-stage clinical programmes
- Contributing to continual improvement of process understanding, data collection and process performance
- Supporting and mentoring junior scientists where appropriate
We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on experience across areas such as:
- mRNA / RNA delivery
- Transfection / electroporation / nucleofection
- Non-viral engineering approaches
- Engineered immune cells (CAR-T, CAR-NK, macrophages etc.)
- LNP or nucleic acid delivery systems
- Translational cell therapy or CGT process development
- Technology transfer and interaction with external manufacturing partners/CDMOs
Requirements:
- BSc, MSc or PhD in Cell Therapy, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related field
- Industrial experience within process development, cell therapy, gene therapy or advanced therapeutics
- Strong laboratory and experimental design capabilities
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
- Understanding of translational development and manufacturing considerations within advanced therapies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Previous experience across GMP manufacturing, regulatory submissions, process validation or late-stage clinical development would be advantageous.
