Job Description:

System Architect (Space Missions)

Location: London, UK or Luxembourg Hybrid

The Opportunity

Join a world-class engineering team at the forefront of the sustainable space revolution. We are developing groundbreaking missions that redefine how we interact with assets in orbit. We are looking for a seasoned System Architect to serve as the technical authority for one of our primary mission developments, ensuring technical success from conception through to in-orbit operations.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position for a technical expert who can balance deep spacecraft engineering knowledge with project management and stakeholder diplomacy. You will lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end mission segments, including space, ground, and launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Authority: Lead the technical delivery of end-to-end missions and manage the technical baseline, including change impact assessments.
  • Requirements & Architecture: Derive technical and business requirements to define overall mission architectures.
  • Interface Management: Oversee critical interfaces between subsystems, ground segments, and launch vehicles.
  • Risk & Budget: Take ownership of the technical risk register and system-level budgets (mass, power, link, etc.).
  • Subcontractor Oversight: Monitor and control technical work performed by external partners to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Operational Support: Provide expertise during design reviews, AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test), and in-orbit operations including LEOP.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years in the spacecraft industry, with at least 5 years in technical leadership.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full space program lifecycle (Proposal → Design → Launch → Operations).
  • Deep expertise in at least three core areas: e.g., AOCS, Avionics, Propulsion, Power, FDIR, or AIT.
  • Demonstrated experience with LEO, MEO, or GEO spacecraft systems.
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering complex space development programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience managing relationships with commercial customers and major institutions (e.g., ESA/UKSA).
