Owen Reed is looking for a Company Secretary to join a leading law firm in London, supporting the Board and senior leadership team in a newly created part-time role.

Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week, with a minimum of 1 day in the office

9:30am – 5:30pm (flexibility required in line with business needs)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Company Secretary to join a leading law firm in a key governance and Board support role. This Company Secretary role will provide end-to-end support to the Board and Chairperson, and the Company Secretary will be responsible for ensuring effective governance, smooth Board operations and high-quality decision-making processes. The Company Secretary will play a central role in coordinating Board activities, and the Company Secretary will act as a trusted point of contact between the Board, Partners and senior management within the law firm. The Company Secretary will also ensure accurate governance documentation, and the Company Secretary will support continuous improvement across Board processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Owning the end-to-end Board cycle including agendas, papers, logistics, minute-taking and post-meeting follow-up

• Maintaining the annual governance calendar and tracking key deadlines, approvals and decisions

• Drafting, reviewing and finalising accurate Board minutes and formal records

• Maintaining decision logs, action trackers and monitoring progress with stakeholders

• Acting as a central coordination point between Board members, Partners and senior leadership within the law firm

• Preparing briefing packs, reports and presentations for Board-level discussions

• Supporting communication of Board decisions and actions across the law firm

• Coordinating Board meetings, strategy sessions and offsites, including logistics and follow-up actions

• Ensuring governance processes are maintained and continuously improved

• Managing secure governance records and documentation within the law firm

• Providing wider governance and administrative support to the law firm as required

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience as a Company Secretary within a law firm or professional services environment

• Strong understanding of Board governance and legal/regulatory frameworks

• Excellent minute-taking, drafting and written communication skills

• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail

• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

• Strong stakeholder management skills across senior levels within a law firm

• Proactive, self-motivated and able to use initiative

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

• Strong team-focused approach with flexibility and professionalism
