About the Role
A well-established law firm based in Birmingham City Centre is seeking an experienced and organised Family Legal Secretary to support a busy Family Law department. The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to fee earners handling a range of family matters including divorce, children matters, financial remedy proceedings, and domestic abuse cases.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing full secretarial and administrative support to solicitors and fee earners within the Family Department
- Audio and copy typing of legal correspondence, court documents, and attendance notes
- Managing diaries, appointments, and court hearing dates
- Preparing legal bundles and filing documents with the court
- Handling incoming and outgoing post, emails, and telephone enquiries
- Liaising with clients, barristers, courts, and external agencies professionally and confidentially
- Opening, maintaining, and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures
- Assisting with billing, invoicing, and general file management
- Ensuring compliance with confidentiality and data protection requirements
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary, ideally within Family Law
- Strong audio typing and document production skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Professional and empathetic communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Desirable
- Experience preparing court bundles
- Familiarity with legal aid procedures
- Knowledge of family court processes and terminology
