Technical Services Engineer

Infrastructure | Cloud Platforms | Cyber Security

Hybrid working

Salary: £50,000 to £65,000

We’re recruiting for a Technical Services Engineer to join a growing technology-driven organisation delivering critical systems into the commercial sector.

This is a great opportunity for an infrastructure-focused engineer who enjoys working across hybrid environments, cloud technologies, virtualisation, and security — with the chance to play a key role in modernising and evolving internal platforms.

The position suits someone who prefers engineering, systems ownership, and continuous improvement over traditional end-user support.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing and supporting virtualised server environments across VMware and Hyper-V

• Maintaining core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, certificates, and remote access platforms

• Supporting hybrid cloud environments and connectivity across on-premise and cloud-hosted services

• Administering Microsoft 365 technologies including Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and OneDrive

• Monitoring, maintaining, and improving backup, resilience, and disaster recovery solutions

• Supporting networking infrastructure including switches, routing, VPNs, and connectivity troubleshooting

• Assisting with security operations across endpoint protection, email security, firewalls, and identity management

• Working with AWS and Azure environments to support future cloud adoption and infrastructure projects

• Contributing to ongoing platform improvements, automation, and technology roadmap initiatives

What we’re looking for

• Strong background in infrastructure engineering and virtualised environments

• Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft cloud technologies

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals and secure connectivity principles

• Exposure to public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure

• Understanding of infrastructure and cyber security best practices

• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical services

• A proactive mindset with enthusiasm for learning emerging technologies

Desirable experience

• Linux server administration or virtual machine management

• Cloud security and identity/access management

• Backup and business continuity technologies

• Infrastructure monitoring and performance optimisation

This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad technology stack while helping shape the future direction of the organisation’s infrastructure and cloud services.

Hybrid working available depending on location and experience.
