Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with this Client, an ambitious and high-achieving secondary academy in Southwark, to appoint an inspiring and experienced Head of Geography to join their successful Humanities department on a permanent basis from September. This is a full-time opportunity offering London MPS/UPS salary, with interviews being arranged immediately.

The successful candidate will lead and develop the Geography department, driving outstanding teaching and learning across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geography teacher or current middle leader seeking progression within a supportive and innovative academy environment.
The role will include:
- Leading and managing the Geography department to ensure high standards of teaching and achievement
- Planning and delivering engaging Geography lessons across all key stages
- Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment
- Supporting, coaching, and developing members of the department
- Contributing to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities
- Promoting a passion for Geography throughout the school community
- Ensuring high expectations of behaviour, engagement, and achievement
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have a degree in Geography or a related subject
- Demonstrate successful experience teaching Geography at secondary level
- Have previous leadership experience or the ability to lead and inspire a department
- Possess excellent subject knowledge and curriculum understanding
- Be committed to raising achievement and delivering outstanding outcomes
- Have excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Be passionate about education and dedicated to supporting young people
