A top-tier law firm with a leading international trade & sanctions practice is seeking to hire a Trade & Sanctions Associate (2–5 PQE) as part of continued strategic growth within its high-performing London regulatory team.
You will join a specialist platform known for:
- Advising on complex UK, EU and global sanctions regimes, including Russia-related measures and evolving geopolitical frameworks
- Supporting high-value, cross-border M&A, finance and real estate transactions with embedded sanctions and export controls considerations
- Delivering cutting-edge regulatory advice across export controls, FDI, AML/CTF and anti-bribery frameworks
- Acting for major financial institutions, multinational corporates and investment houses on business-critical compliance issues
- Handling strategic, risk-sensitive matters with significant commercial, operational and reputational impact
- Working within a genuinely integrated, multi-jurisdictional team across the UK, US, EU and APAC

The Role
You will advise on a broad range of sophisticated trade and sanctions matters, including:
- UK and EU sanctions compliance and advisory work
- Sanctions and export controls support across M&A and financing transactions
- Regulatory due diligence and risk assessments
- Drafting and reviewing contractual protections and compliance frameworks
- Advising on operational and strategic compliance programmes
- Coordinating cross-border advice with international offices and specialist teams
You will work closely with partners and senior lawyers on high-profile matters, while benefiting from strong mentorship, early responsibility and direct client exposure.
About You
The team is seeking high-calibre candidates who:
- Are UK-qualified with 2–5 PQE
- Have trained at a City, US or leading international firm
- Have strong experience in sanctions work and transactional support (M&A essential)
- Exposure to export controls, FDI or broader regulatory frameworks is advantageous
- Demonstrate strong technical ability alongside commercial awareness and pragmatism
- Are detail-oriented, proactive and thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment
