Surgical Trainer / Liaison Contractor

UK Remote | Travel to Clinical Sites Twice Weekly | Contract until 2027

We are partnering with an innovative biotech organisation developing cutting-edge gene therapy programs within ophthalmology and retinal disease. They are now seeking a highly specialised Surgical Trainer / Liaison Contractor to support ongoing subretinal gene therapy studies across the UK.

This is a unique opportunity to join a lean, high-impact Clinical Development team and work directly alongside senior leadership in a pioneering therapeutic area.

The Opportunity

  • Remote-based role within the UK
  • Contract starting July/August 2026 through to approximately April/June 2027
  • Site travel required approximately twice per week
  • Reporting directly to the VP Clinical Sciences
  • Opportunity to support innovative subretinal gene therapy clinical programs
  • High level of autonomy within a specialist environment
  • Fast-moving interview process, likely one-stage interview

Key Responsibilities

  • Support surgical training and liaison activities across clinical trial sites
  • Ensure clinical trial processes and protocol requirements are consistently adhered to
  • Collaborate closely with investigators, surgeons, and clinical study teams
  • Provide procedural and operational support related to subretinal gene therapy delivery
  • Act as a key clinical/scientific point of contact within the program

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong subretinal experience is essential
  • Must have observed at least 10 subretinal gene therapy procedures
  • Previous experience within surgical training, surgical liaison, or clinical support activities preferred
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial conduct and compliance requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

We would be particularly interested in speaking with:

  • Surgical Trainers/Liaisons within biotech or pharma
  • Clinical specialists with subretinal gene therapy exposure
  • Vitreoretinal surgeons or ophthalmology professionals involved in gene therapy studies
  • Candidates with experience supporting ophthalmology clinical trials
