Role Details
- Title: Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Type: Permanent
Responsibilities
- Deliver coronary CT and cardiac MR imaging services at UHS, supporting the interstitial lung disease (ILD) service and the Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) programme.
- Provide a tertiary cardiac and thoracic imaging service, including stress imaging, congenital heart disease imaging, and cardiothoracic MRI.
- Participate independently in the reporting of HRCT imaging and ILD MDTs.
- Report independently on TLHC (or lung‑cancer screening pilot/trial) CT scans where required.
- Contribute to the dedicated on‑call cardiothoracic imaging service.
Qualifications – Essential Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- FRCR or equivalent.
- Completed general training in Radiology to specialist level, standard of RCR UK training or equivalent.
- Significant advanced clinical experience in a tertiary referral centre covering at least two of the following modalities: Cardiac CT, Cardiac MR, Thoracic CT (ideally 12+ months).
- Thoracic intervention experience, including chest ultrasound‑guided procedures.
- Full UK driving licence or ability to travel between hospital sites.
Qualifications – Desirable Criteria
- BASCI Level 2 accreditation or higher in cardiac CT (or equivalent SCCT/EACVI).
- EACVI or SCMR Level 2 accreditation or higher in cardiac MRI.
- International post‑CCT fellowship in thoracic/cardio‑thoracic imaging.
- Training and significant experience in ILD CT/MDT.
- Training in congenital heart disease imaging.
- Independent reporting of targeted lung health check CTs (or equivalent lung‑cancer screening pilot/trials).
- Experience with advanced post‑processing or reporting imaging tools.
- Peer‑review publications specific to cardiothoracic radiology.
- Oral presentations at national or international meetings specific to cardiothoracic radiology.
- Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
