Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Immunoglobulins and East Midlands SRIAP

Closing date: 31 May 2026.

This role provides maternity cover for the substantive post holder in the Medicines Finance team, offering development opportunities on medicines finance, procurement, project management and inter‑professional collaboration, while maintaining specialist clinical pharmacy skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Specialist Pharmacist for Immunoglobulins at NUH and the EM‑SRIAP.
  • Oversee immunoglobulin use across the East Midlands and serve as Professional Secretary for the EM‑SRIAP.
  • Provide specialist clinical oversight of immunoglobulin management at NUH in line with national commissioning criteria, governance, product allocations and mandated reporting.
  • Act as Professional Secretary for the NUH Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel.
  • Line‑manage and support the EM‑SRIAP Co‑ordinator and Pharmacy Immunoglobulin & Reimbursement Scheme Officer.
  • Deliver core clinical pharmacy activities whilst supporting the NUH medicines optimisation strategy.
  • Support the High Cost Medicines Team and wider Medicines Finance Team with implementation of medicines value schemes.
  • Participate in general clinical pharmacy duties across City Hospital and QMC campuses, covering the 7‑day shift rota, bank holidays and senior support rota for the on‑call pharmacist.

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

  • B.Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) / MPharm / MSc or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent postgraduate experience
  • Leadership and management training

Experience

  • Post‑registration experience in hospital pharmacy
  • Risk management and clinical governance experience
  • Audit work experience
  • Developing and implementing action plans for new services/services change
  • Developing and implementing specialty‑wide policies and procedures with pharmacy, nursing and medical teams
  • Managing clinical and/or governance aspects around immunoglobulins
  • Professional secretary experience to a clinical governance group or committee
  • Medicines finance issues (cost‑containment schemes)
  • Knowledge of national/regional funding and commissioning pathways for high‑cost medicines

  • Strong written and oral communication, including presentation skills
  • Summarise, communicate and present information to a wide range of professionals
