Childrens Respiratory and Atopic Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Respiratory and Atopic Team. The post is Band 7 full time working as part of the wider Respiratory and Atopic team with the primary base of the role being confirmed at interview, therefore, the ability to travel across sites with access to your own car is essential. The team works across sites to ensure the person with the right skills for the role is being utilised and to ensure peer support for the team. Being responsible for leading and co-ordination of the care for children and young people with severe/chronic respiratory and allergy conditions including the development of individualised personal development plans, ensuring children diagnosed with respiratory/atopic conditions receive care in line with current best practice and demonstrate innovative ways of working. Play a key role in running nurse-led services and delivering specialist assessments at consultations working closely with the Speciality Consultant Paediatricians. Developing and implementing educational material, individual management plans, competency training, audit and research. Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and experience of quality improvement and governance. To apply for this position you will need to have significant post‑registration experience including working at Band 6 level caring for children with Allergy/respiratory conditions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for facilitating and providing comprehensive care packages for children and young people with respiratory and atopic disease both in hospital and community settings to meet the changing needs of the developing respiratory service.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Experience
- Experience as a band 6 in the CNS role
Quality improvement
- Evidence of quality improvements
- Awareness of quality improvements
Leadership
- Experience of leadership within current role
Nurse led clinics experience
- Considerable experience of nurse‑led clinics within all parts of the role
Skills
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role
