Head of Sales (Steel Fabrication)

Wednesbury, United Kingdom | Posted on 05/18/2026

Own the entire sales pipeline and client relationships for steel fabrication projects — working directly with the Managing Director to shape, scale and grow the business.

Role Overview

Simon & Dean Limited is a steel fabrication and manufacturing business that turns customer briefs, CAD files and drawings into buildable metalwork and workshop‑ready projects.

The Mission: You’ll own the commercial and technical side of every quote — from first brief to signed order. Turn drawings into accurate, profitable offers, recommend materials, finishes and structural tweaks, and work directly with the Managing Director to shape how we win work and grow the company.

The Daily Grind: Convert briefs, CAD files and drawings into detailed, buildable quotes that factor materials, labour, compliance and lead times. Liaise with the shop floor to check practicality, follow up on quotes, answer client queries and build long‑term trust. Help shape case studies and attend events to showcase our technical capabilities and expand our reach.

The Reality: You must have hands‑on experience making things from steel or similar materials and be able to read a drawing at a glance. You’re commercially sharp, proactive and take pride in owning outcomes — moving fast, staying close to the detail and delivering profitable, deliverable work in a high‑autonomy, visible role.

The Blueprint: Your Core Responsibilities

Own the end‑to‑end sales pipeline and client relationships, work directly with the Managing Director to grow the company, and shape its future — if you want visible, hands‑on ownership of how a business wins work and delivers it, this is for you.

  1. Project Quoting: Turn customer briefs, CAD files and drawings into accurate, commercial quotes that factor in materials, labour, compliance and lead times. Success looks like proposals that are buildable, protect margin and consistently convert into orders — you’ll set the standards that feed and accelerate the pipeline you own.
  2. Technical Advisory: Recommend materials, finishes and structural tweaks so everything quoted can be built safely and profitably. Success looks like clear specifications that minimise surprises on the shop floor, reduce cost creep and keep projects deliverable at scale.
  3. Production Liaison: Work closely with the shop floor to ensure what’s promised is practical and deliverable, adjusting plans to reflect real‑world constraints. Success looks like smooth handovers, realistic lead times, predictable throughput and minimal rework — turning quotes into finished products you can be proud of.
  4. Client Relationship, Marketing & Industry Representation: You own follow‑up on quotes, client conversations and long‑term relationships while helping shape case studies, campaigns and event strategies. Represent the business at trade shows and events to grow our reach. Success looks like a healthy, expanding pipeline under your control, stronger customer trust, sharper marketing assets that show our technical edge, and tangible business growth from your relationships.

The Payoff

The Simon & Dean Limited DNA (Our Non‑Negotiables)

Ownership: You own quotes, decisions and delivery — the projects you scope become reality and reflect your judgment.

Pride: You only put your name to work that’s accurately quoted, well built and something you’d be proud to see on the shop floor.

Honest: You communicate clearly with colleagues and customers—calling out risks, asking the right questions and building trust that wins repeat business.

Efficient: You work smart with practical fabrication instincts, delivering accurate, buildable quotes while keeping materials, labour and lead times under control.
