Position: Internal Communications Business Partner

Location: Maritime House, South Shields

Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000

You’ll lead the development and delivery of internal communications that drive engagement, alignment, and performance across the organisation.

Strategic communications

  • Design and deliver the internal communications strategy aligned to business priorities
  • Partner with senior leaders to shape clear, effective communication approaches
  • Translate organisational goals into targeted communication plans
  • Provide expert advice on communication risks, opportunities, and best practice
  • Build strong relationships across the business to understand needs and influence outcomes

Operational communications

  • Oversee internal communication channels to maximise reach and engagement
  • Ensure key updates, priorities, and performance messages are clear and consistent
  • Support delivery of business plans by connecting colleagues to goals and expectations
  • Enable leaders and managers to communicate confidently with their teams
  • Work closely with external communications to ensure alignment and consistency

Change and transformation

  • Partner with project and change teams to support successful delivery of change initiatives
  • Develop communication plans that drive understanding, adoption, and engagement
  • Simplify complex information into clear, audience-focused messaging
  • Support leaders to communicate change with clarity and confidence

Content creation

  • Create and edit high‑quality content including announcements, presentations, and key messages
  • Develop engaging multimedia content such as video and visual assets
  • Ensure all communications are accessible, on‑brand, and audience‑focused

Measurement and continuous improvement

  • Track and evaluate communication effectiveness and engagement
  • Use insight and data to improve channels, messaging, and approach
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends, tools, and best practice

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a confident and credible communications professional who can operate at both a strategic and delivery level.

  • Proven experience in internal or corporate communications
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Experience managing multi‑channel communications in a complex organisation
  • Ability to simplify complex information for different audiences
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience supporting organisational change and transformation
  • A data‑driven approach to measuring and improving communication effectiveness
