We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Engineer to support our regional Development Team based in Cardiff, focusing on civil engineering for development infrastructure across Wales and the UK with international opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day project management in the delivery of concept studies and strategies with hands‑on design, leading to planning applications or construction drawing issue
- Taking financial responsibility for your projects and ensuring they are delivered to budget, programme and technical standards
- Working on varied multi‑disciplinary projects and client accounts, liaising with clients at a local and national level
- Direct line management, including mentoring and managing early‑career professionals to ensure technical excellence in everything we deliver
- Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals and involvement in business development activities
- Helping maintain a positive working environment and culture within the team
You will be helping deliver projects such as:
- Hinkley Point C
- 50 Storey Central Cardiff Tower (Wales tallest building)
- North East Cardiff (Wales second largest residential scheme)
- HS2 Curzon Street Station, Birmingham
- Oxford Science Park
- Greenwich Peninsula
- Aston Villa FC, Birmingham
- Bahrain International Sports City, Bahrain
Services you will help deliver include:
- Civil engineering, highways design and earthworks strategies
- Utilities, energy planning and coordination
- Drainage, flood risk and SuDS
- Site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
- Preferably a Civil Engineering degree and either be Chartered or approaching Chartered status with experience in highway and highway drainage design
- Strong post‑graduate experience in a civil engineering working environment
- Ability to produce master plans, site appraisals, write reports to support planning applications, design calculations and construction drawings
- A solid engineering foundation and understanding of highway design and highway drainage principles (layout, etc.)
- Experience in using Civils 3D or PDS (or similar software packages) together with experience in applying Highways England/DMRB and Local Authority design guidance
- Experience in design of drainage using InfoDrainage and a background in Water Company related work inclusive of the relevant design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, DMRB and Local Authority Design Guides, and well versed in the preparation of drawings for contract documents and requisite technical agreements
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues, including more senior and junior staff, in producing designs, drawings and reports is essential
