Job Description:

As a Data Lead within Working Age Services (WAS), you’ll lead the development and delivery of data capability across a large, complex organisation. This is a strategic leadership role where you’ll shape how data is used to support priority outcomes, working closely with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams. You’ll be responsible for building and leading a core team of data professionals, identifying capability gaps and implementing improvements across people, processes and products. At an exciting time of transformation, you’ll play a key part in supporting DWP’s move to a new “hub and spoke” data model, ensuring data is used effectively, consistently and at scale. What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing team of data professionals
  • Shape and deliver the data strategy across Working Age Services
  • Identify gaps in data capability and implement improvements across teams and practices
  • Provide leadership alongside senior data and delivery colleagues to drive joined‑up outcomes
  • Work with senior stakeholders to define data needs and ensure they are met
  • Champion the value of data to support decision‑making and service improvement
  • Drive adoption, compliance and assurance of data strategy across the organisation
  • Lead on data‑related communications, engagement and capability upskilling
  • Collaborate across DWP to ensure a consistent and effective approach to data

Strong experience in:

  • Leading data capability or data teams within complex organisations
  • Using data to influence decisions, drive innovation and deliver outcomes
  • Working with senior stakeholders and building strong collaborative relationships

Experience of:

  • Developing and delivering data strategies or transformation programmes
  • Identifying capability gaps and implementing improvements across people, tools and processes
  • Working in multidisciplinary environments alongside digital and data professionals
