Blackburn BB1 2FD | Full-time | Permanent
We’re looking for a confident and resilient Credit Controller to join a growing property business with a large and varied portfolio of retail, industrial, and commercial tenants. This is a fast‑paced, tenant‑facing role where mentality and communication style are just as important as technical ability.
Working closely with the Credit Control Manager, you’ll manage relationships across a diverse tenant base, balancing a professional and commercial approach depending on the client. Some conversations will be challenging, so this role would suit someone who is proactive, thick‑skinned, and confident picking up the phone to chase outstanding payments.
You’ll also play a key role in daily reconciliations and ledger management, requiring strong attention to detail and solid Excel skills.
In this role, you will:
- Manage and monitor outstanding tenant accounts to ensure timely payments
- Build relationships with a wide range of clients across retail and industrial sectors
- Handle difficult payment conversations confidently and professionally
- Adapt your communication style depending on the client and situation
- Complete daily bank postings and high-volume ledger reconciliations
- Work with accounting and property management systems, including Propman
- Maintain accurate financial records and payment tracking
- Investigate and resolve billing queries and payment disputes
- Conduct credit checks and assess customer creditworthiness
- Handle confidential financial and lease information with discretion
- Support the wider finance team with reporting and account management tasks
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience within credit control, collections, or accounts receivable
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data
- Experience using accounting or finance systems
- A resilient, commercially aware, and proactive mindset
- Excellent communication and telephone skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
- Confidence managing difficult conversations professionally
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close‑knit team
- Experience within property or tenant‑led environments would be advantageous
What’s in it for you?
- Salary from £25,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
- Full-time permanent opportunity
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Company pension
- Free parking and on‑site parking
- On‑site canteen
- Career progression within a growing property business
- Supportive office‑based team environment
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
If you’re someone with the right mentality, strong communication skills, and the confidence to thrive in a fast‑paced credit control environment, we’d love to hear from you.
