Camden Rapid Access Services – Band 7 Nurse/Paramedic
Camden Rapid Access Services (Camden RAS) is an Adult Physical Health service that delivers care in the community, incorporating Urgent Community Response (UCR), Hospital at Home (H@H), and D2A pathways.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Band 7 Registered Nurse or Paramedic with acute care experience (A&E, ITU, CCU, HDU) to provide high‑quality, timely care to patients who are deteriorating in the community. The role involves assessment, management, and treatment in patients’ homes or care settings, targeting review within two hours of referral.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing or paramedic care in the community, assessing and managing patients to prevent hospital admission.
- Deliver care in line with Urgent Community Response protocols, working within designated caseloads.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including specialty nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.
- Operate within Hospital at Home pathways, managing non‑medically‑optimised patients, including IV medication, remote monitoring, and acute/chronic conditions.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and reporting.
- Serve as a trusted senior practitioner, offering decision‑making support to colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Band 7 Registered Nurse or Paramedic with acute care experience.
- Current, valid registration with NMC or HCPC.
- Completion of a Physical Assessment or equivalent module (paramedics exempt).
- Full UK driving licence preferred; transport provision offered if not held.
Core Skills
- Physical assessment, venepuncture, cannulation, and medication administration (PO, PR, IV, IM, SC).
- Interpretation of blood results and triage.
- Autonomous practice and confidence in clinical decision‑making.
- Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act and capacity assessment.
- Proficiency in assuming a Nurse/Paramedic in Charge role.
- Desirable: Non‑Medical Prescriber, teaching, mentorship, or practice assessment.
Shift Pattern
The team works a variety of shifts: 08:00–21:00, 09:00–22:00, 09:00–19:00, 12:00–22:00. The successful candidate will work two weekends per month and can request up to four shifts or specific days off per roster.
