The Child Health Psychology department at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales is recruiting a band 7 Practitioner Psychologist to work in both Paediatric Oncology and General Paediatrics (0.8/0.2 wte split). The post holder will be based within the Child Health Psychology team and provide a specialised psychology service to both the tertiary oncology and general paediatrics medical specialties. The role involves delivering advanced psychological assessments, diagnostics and interventions, and offering expert consultation to the multidisciplinary Paediatric Oncology Team and General Paediatrics. The post holder will be led and supervised by the Senior Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Oncology and work alongside Band 7 Practitioner Psychologists within General Paediatrics.
Key responsibilities
- Providing individual and group psychological care, including complex assessments, formulation and treatment.
- Offering consultation and advice on psychological care to clinical colleagues.
- Supervising assistant psychologists, doctoral trainees and MDT colleagues.
- Contributing to clinical governance and service development.
- Contributing to service models design and policy changes.
- Engaging in multidisciplinary work, liaison, teaching, training and research.
- Planning and managing own caseloads to balance clinical, supervisory and developmental duties.
- Acting as lead supervisor for doctoral trainee clinical psychologists where appropriate.
