Join our Children’s Oncology Outreach Team! We are a small, dedicated, and dynamic service supporting children and young people (0‑15 years) and their families throughout their oncology treatment. Our team works closely with a wide range of agencies to minimise disruption to daily life and ensure care is delivered as smoothly as possible. As we cover a large geographical area, applicants must be able to drive and have access to a car. The role also includes participation in our 24/7 on‑call service, providing high‑quality palliative care to children who require this level of support. We are recruiting for two positions: a permanent Band 6/7 development post (upgraded to Band 7 on completion of competencies) and a temporary Band 6 post available as a 6 month secondment.
Main Duties of the Job
- Manage a defined caseload of children and young people with oncology needs.
- Continuously assess care needs, develop and evaluate programmes of care, and set standards of care.
- Provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to the specific patient group, and contribute to the development of the speciality service.
- Ensure cost‑effective use of resources.
- Support the development of interdisciplinary and whole‑service working, promoting the sharing of good practice and the delivery of high‑quality, effective and efficient care.
- Provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.
- Participate in the 24/7 on‑call service, delivering high‑quality palliative care to children who require this level of support.
- Drive and have access to a personal vehicle to cover the large geographical area served by the team.
