Job overview

As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that our patients needs are met through the delivery of high quality care. As a Nurse led unit you will work alongside our senior nursing team to assess, plan and implement individualised patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as a clinical expert within one’s sphere of work.
  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
  • Keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
  • Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the ward manager.
  • Take responsibility for self-development through the appraisal system and work towards completing an agreed personal development plan.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Trust’s Nursing Strategy.
  • Conduct oneself in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and Trust policies.
  • Be aware of and take appropriate action concerning cardiac arrest, fire and major incident.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate level education.
  • Valid NMC PIN.
  • General Adult Nursing experience.
  • Articulate written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Competency in medication administration including IV drugs.
  • IT skills including use of email and office packages.
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of professional Conduct.
  • Time management.
  • Knowledge of Nephrology and willingness to learn.
