Job Overview

Adult Community Nursing Service for Band 6 Community Nurses to work across the Whitton & Twickenham area, operating from 7am to 7pm in Twickenham borough at Whitton Corner Health and Social Care Centre.

Main Duties

  • Support the Locality Nursing Team Manager in delivering the locality nursing service in line with commissioned specifications and standards.
  • Assist in providing line management and leadership, being accountable for team caseload and workforce development.
  • Lead a specific area of nursing practice, delegating expertise to less experienced nurses.
  • Deputise for the Locality Nursing Team Manager and undertake delegated tasks for succession planning.
  • Work independently as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified RGN (Registered General Nurse – Adult) with current registration with the NMC.
  • Post‑registration study at diploma/degree level; CPD in areas such as palliative care, tissue viability.
  • Diploma or BSc (Hons) Community Health (DN) and Specialist Practice Teacher/Teaching Qualification.

Experience

  • Experience in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care for patients in their own homes.
  • Experience in problem solving, supporting team members, mentoring students, and providing supervision.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team work.
  • Experience in audit evaluation and managing resources within a service budget.

Skills

  • Ability to manage day‑to‑day team operations, delegate tasks, and use initiative.
  • IT literate, proficient with databases and software, able to produce well‑written clinical records and service reports.
  • Ability to work under pressure, balance multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Core clinical skills: medicines management, IV therapy, venepuncture, continence, chronic disease, palliative and wound care.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the impact of mental health conditions (e.g., dementia, depression) on the management of medical and long‑term conditions.
  • Understanding of both the Health and Social Care agenda.

Compensation and Benefits

£45,953 to £54,254 per annum, pro‑rata including HCAS.
