Job Description
In this role you will be carrying out installation, service and repairs on a range of Canon Commercial Print Ink Jet Printers, as well as pre and post finishing equipment. You will ensure adherence to standard call procedures and maintain quality standards, achieving a high first‑time fix rate and minimum return rates. Focus on customer satisfaction and retention by delivering an exceptional service experience.
The work is varied and fast‑paced. You should be comfortable working in teams, have accurate time‑management skills, and be eager to develop your career.
Responsibilities
- Provide first‑line troubleshooting of Commercial Print ink‑jet devices, working to strict service level agreements.
- Achieve a high first‑time fix rate and minimise recalls using labour and parts cost‑effectively.
- Communicate effectively with Canon customers and internal departments.
- Contribute to team development and performance; assist/coach/mentor Service Engineers as required.
- Meet all post‑sale field service requirements.
- Provide technical escalation support for colleagues when needed.
- Record all activities correctly according to company guidelines.
- Optimise customer stock inventory and rotation, balancing against return‑to‑fit visits.
- Provide customers with product instruction and training.
- Advise customers when chargeable work is necessary and obtain required authorisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance, repair practices and machine modifications.
- Signal commercial opportunities to Sales and Marketing as appropriate.
- Comply fully with company policies and Health & Safety guidelines, including product safety checks.
- Engage in self‑development and take further training to enhance skills.
- Maintain a customer‑service mindset and work independently when required.
- Remain calm under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Work a shift rotation schedule.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- NVQ or equivalent in an electrical and/or mechanical discipline.
- Experience as a Service Engineer in a production/commercial environment.
- Proficiency in fault finding and resolution within electromechanical environments and relevant IT experience.
- Understanding of health and safety guidelines.
- Excellent planning, organisation, problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Proactive, cost‑effective, and driven to succeed.
- Team‑player with strong communication abilities.

Salary: £35,273 + shift premium
