Apply for the Clinical Engineer | Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
Location: London
Job Description:

We’re looking to expand and develop the Clinical Engineering team as it provides expert support and partnership to a wide range of senior clinical staff and managers in one of the largest hospital Trust in the country. Our overall goal is to maximise the value we derive from medical technologies, using our expertise in health technology management.

We achieve this in several ways through well‑defined strategic workstreams (including those relating to governance and continuous improvement in the areas of Technology Evaluation & Research, Medical Devices Safety and R&D governance). We support team members to build experience and develop their contribution across our workstreams, though they may hold responsibilities in particular areas.

A 22‑month fixed‑term, band 7 job opportunity has become available to support several work streams across the Clinical Engineering service, with more focus on the following work streams:

  • Technology Evaluation & Research
  • Medical Device Safety
  • Innovation Assessment & Approval

We are looking for candidates to support the delivery of various grant‑funded activities that include the NIHR Health Tech Research Centre, CITI and GSTT Foundation.

The technological functions that the role supports will drive optimal adoption and safe use of medical technology.

Regulatory and technical input to the development and deployment of novel medical devices.

Coordinating and assuring effective risk management and clinical governance.

If need arises, you would be expected to contribute to several work streams to support successful delivery of clinical engineering services. Regardless of your emphasis, you will require continual learning as technology evolves.

This work is best suited to applicants who are motivated to get involved in the operations and productivity of an acute hospital trust and to develop the support delivered to frontline clinical services.

Showing leadership and an ability to collaborate with a diverse range of team members within Clinical Engineering and beyond is required. You would find our team dynamic, diligent, collaborative and accommodating, and the same would be expected of you.

You would undertake and manage service development projects which require a high level of scientific understanding, technical ability, analytical, innovation and communication skills.

Although registration as a Clinical Scientist is highly desirable, we are flexible and keen to welcome candidates from the wider pool of engineers and scientists. For those who are interested in pursuing professional registration, we are well equipped to support you.
