Clinical Educator – Haematology and Oncology

An exciting opportunity to influence patient care through education, contribute to service development, and support the delivery of high-quality cancer and Haematology services within the Trust. In this role you will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of clinical education programmes, supporting newly appointed staff and experienced practitioners, including preceptorship, competency frameworks, and ongoing clinical skills development in line with national standards and Trust priorities.

Main Duties

  • Undertake formal and informal training sessions for nursing staff in Haematology and Oncology.
  • Work clinically with staff and support them in achieving and maintaining competencies in SACT administration, CVAD care, and the care of Oncology and Haematology patients.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff training.
  • Collaborate with management to review and update training pathways for staff in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registered
  • Competency in SACT administration
  • Teaching experience
  • Attendance at Preceptorship training
  • Degree holder

Desirable

  • Evidence of completion of Level 6/7 course in SACT administration
  • Masters degree
  • Evidence of completing Level 6/7 course in Haematology/Oncology

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Documented evidence of undertaking enhanced skills and roles
  • Excellent clinical skills in cannulation, venepuncture, CVAD care
  • Evidence of teaching and supporting learners
  • Demonstrable interest in research
  • Experience of Haematology and Oncology through day care or inpatient services

Desirable

  • Demonstrable interest in clinical audit
  • Computer literate and able to maintain databases
  • Previous knowledge in undertaking patient focused assessments

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge around CVAD care and cannulation
  • Ability to research different topics
  • Ability to put teaching sessions together
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge within the speciality of Haematology and Oncology
