Consultant in Infectious Diseases

This post will join a consultant team with diverse interests and expertise in both inpatient and outpatient care, including speciality clinics (Tuberculosis, ambulatory ID, HIV, OPAT, viral hepatitis). The post holder will be based at Northwick Park and will contribute to our highly rated undergraduate and postgraduate training as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for Imperial College and have the opportunity to contribute to our clinical research programme. This appointment will also add to the current team of acute medicine and specialty physicians supporting Acute Medicine.
Main duties
- Deliver consultant‑led clinics, support the IDAR registrar and specialist nurses, and lead service development, clinical governance and research relevant to the IDAR service.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the referral registrar working flexibly with other consultants and coordinating with ward teams to ensure ID patients are looked after by ID.
- Lead design and implementation of a Travel Clinic service for the public and staff, in close liaison with the IDAR nursing team to fund this post.

Job responsibilities
As part of the IDAR service, the Consultant will deliver consultant‑led clinics, support registrars and nurses, lead service development, governance and research, coordinate patient care, and lead the Travel Clinic service.
Person Specification
- CCT in General Internal Medicine or with 6 months of obtaining
- MD or PhD
- CCT in Infectious Diseases or with 6 months of obtaining
Key Knowledge
- Ability to take full & independent responsibility for clinical care of complex acute medicine patients.
- Other ID sub‑specialty interest.
Personal skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
- Demonstrate qualities of leadership.

Salary
£113,565 to £150,569 a year plus 3% on call supplement.
