Nottingham University Hospitals have an exciting opportunity for an 18‑month fixed‑term full‑time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by NHS England.

Main duties of the job
- Perform and interpret routine non‑invasive cardiac investigations.
- Perform specialised diagnostics investigations, specifically full transthoracic echocardiograms on a variety of patients.
- Analyse and interpret data and compare investigative and clinical options.
- Make judgements, including clinical and differential judgements, involving complicated facts or situations that impact on patients.
- Initiate and undertake innovation, improvement and R&D and be involved in the education of healthcare science trainees and other learners in the workplace.
- Carry out audit to continuously improve patient care and service needs.
- Communicate and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Assist other members of the team in the day‑to‑day organisation and delivery of the non‑invasive cardiac diagnostic service.

Job responsibilities
Provision of high quality TTE images and reports.
Completion of PGDip in Echocardiography.
Participation in all required training activities.
Supervision of junior team members when appropriate.
Provision of other cardiac diagnostics e.g. ECG analysis, ETT and tilt.
Working at our three sites: QMC, City Campus and our central Nottingham CDC.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- 1st or 2.1 BSc in Physiology or equivalent.
- SCST or similar cardiac‑based qualification.
Experience
- Experience working in a Diagnostic Cardiology Department.
- Any level of previous echo experience.
Communication
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of strong teamwork.
