Acting Team Leader – Overview

We are looking for a confident Acting Team Leader to deliver outstanding care at Norcott Lodge.

Full‑time, 42 hours per week, 12‑hour shifts, including alternate weekends. Rotating shifts: four shifts week one, three shifts week two, days only.

Shift types include support shifts and acting team lead shifts where duties are allocated, medication given, team led, and management supported.

Norcott Lodge is a specialist residential service for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Person‑centred planning is at the heart of our service.

Main duties of the job

  • Medication
  • Allocation of duties
  • Support both management and team members in the day‑to‑day running of the service
  • Oversee the staff team and ensure users receive suitable support
  • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach
  • Provide guidance and encouragement through physical & emotional support
  • Learn about individuals’ specific needs and assist appropriately
  • Assist with and report on medical and welfare needs
  • Safeguard
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment
  • Support service users to access the community, attend work, college, hobbies, days out, holidays
  • Support users to grow, develop and learn through engaging tasks such as cooking & cleaning

  • Salary: team lead rate (£15.39 per hour for all acting team leader shifts); support worker rate (£13.15 per hour rising to £13.45 after three months, £13.70 after 18 months)
