Applications are invited from well‑motivated, enthusiastic persons for the post of Clerk Receptionist in East Lancs Sexual Health Services.

Applicants should have experience of working with the general public on a day‑to‑day basis. Experience of clerical work and having excellent organisational skills would be beneficial. Sexual Health Services uses their own IT patient record system and therefore the candidate must be computer literate as well as being practical and adaptable. Well developed communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team are vital requirements for this post. Due to the specialist nature of this service, an open, non‑judgemental and positive attitude is necessary. Shift patterns may potentially include working long days, evenings and weekends and working at our sites across East Lancashire.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will assist in the provision of clerical support to the team members working in East Lancs Sexual Health team by undertaking basic office procedures in order to maintain an effective and efficient office system. Shift patterns may include working long days, evenings and weekends.

Face to face and telephone contact with members of the public will be undertaken, and the checking of clinic registration forms to ensure they have been completed correctly. Such information will include patient date of birth, address, GP, and telephone numbers.

Person Specification

Education and Qualification

  • Good level of basic education to include GCSE maths and English, NVQ level 2, or evidence of administrative knowledge and skills equivalent to level of qualification

Experience and Knowledge

  • Previous clerical experience
  • Proven experience in delivering a range of administration tasks to a high standard
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Experience of working with the public / in a customer care environment
  • Experience of the delivery of objectives within a constantly changing environment

Skills and Ability

  • Utilising IT data collection formats and databases to produce reports for management information
  • Ability to act on own initiative within policies and procedures, referring to manager as required
  • Basic Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Keyboard skills for the regular use of computer systems
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with experience of dealing with people at a variety of levels
  • Good organisational skills- able to deliver agreed objectives within an agreed time frame
  • Excellent attention to detail
