Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide administrative support to the STSFT Lung Cancer Screening Programme (LCSP), which delivers screening to people aged 55 to 74 years who have previously smoked and are at risk of developing lung cancer across Sunderland and South Tyneside.

Responsibilities

  • Work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm, from an office at South Tyneside General Hospital with 2 other administrators, 5 specialist nurses and a Programme Manager.
  • Provide administrative support to the Programme for a fixed term of one year, including managing booking schedules for Lung Health Checks and CT scans.
  • Assist the wider clinical team in managing clinical pathways, onward referrals and processing outcomes from weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Act as a point of contact for the general public, providing advice and guidance on the screening pathway and working in partnership with Respiratory and Radiology hospital teams and primary care.
  • Support participants with reasonable adjustments, such as translation services, transport, flexible appointments, and accommodation for hearing impairments or learning difficulties, while upholding principles of Health Equality.
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding for participants who may be anxious about screening outcomes and possible treatment options.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple booking schedules.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with clinical teams, the public and primary care providers.
  • Team player with an interest in developing screening pathways and improving service delivery.
