Executive Head Of Childcare Services

Overview

Haringey Council is offering an initial temporary contract of 3‑6 months for the Executive Head of Childcare Services with potential to transition to a permanent role. The role is based at N15 6NU. Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for day‑to‑day management of childcare provision in three local‑authority maintained nurseries.
• Lead development of ethos, policies and practice to ensure high‑quality early education and integrated community provision.
• Jointly responsible with the Executive Head of Children Centre Services for managing budgets, preparing, monitoring and reviewing revenue, capital budgets and external funding streams in accordance with Haringey Standards of Financial Management; report as required.
• Supervise, manage performance and monitor childcare staff, including annual and mid/end of year performance appraisals in line with Haringey policies and procedures.
• Oversee Ofsted inspections of childcare and early education.
• Ensure quality and standard of early years education and care is established and constantly monitored.
• Jointly responsible for Children’s Centre premises and environment and agreements around use of premises by other agencies and groups.

Requirements

• Recognised Education/Childcare (Early Years) qualification.
• Management experience and understanding of integrated childcare and education service within the public sector.
• Experience with financial planning and budgets, including application of financial procedures.
• Experience and understanding of Ofsted inspections.
