Job Description:
Freedom’s Professional Services is looking for a Senior Design Engineer with a cabling system and/or cable routing specialism to join our team based in London or Stowmarket. The role will involve design, drawing, calculations, site surveys, and a hybrid working arrangement between office, home, and site.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead technically demanding projects.
- Lead all types of cabling projects from concept design to detailed design, carrying out calculations and producing drawings, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and timely delivery.
- Maintain commercial awareness and build strong client relationships.
- Apply detailed knowledge of cable system design and software packages such as CYMCAP.
- Apply detailed knowledge of cable routing design and software packages such as AutoCAD.
- Understand and mitigate complex engineering problems such as SEDs.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers.
- Attend and chair design team meetings with the team/client via Teams or in person.
- Provide engineering solutions to site‑based problems through TQ/RFI process.
- Review and authorise cable design reports and drawings to a high standard, providing constructive technical feedback.
- Conduct, supervise, and demonstrate site visits to carry out cable route assessments, design commissioning, and investigations after failures.
Qualifications
- Degree qualification desirable; HNC/HNC fundamentals essential.
- Autonomous, requiring little direction to get the job done.
