Role Overview

As a Senior Regional Sales Manager for M20 Genomics in Europe, you will be a founding member of our European commercial team. You will be responsible for driving revenue growth, establishing strategic partnerships, and building M20 Genomics’ brand presence across your assigned territory. This is a unique opportunity to shape the commercial strategy of a high-growth genomics company at a pivotal moment of international expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Territory Development & Revenue Generation: Develop and execute a comprehensive territory plan covering the UK. Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within academic institutions, research hospitals, core genomics facilities, and biopharma R&D organizations.
  2. Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with principal investigators, lab directors, core facility managers, and procurement decision-makers. Adopt a consultative selling approach to understand research needs and recommend tailored M20 solutions.
  3. Technical Consultation: Leverage deep knowledge of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics to provide scientific consultation. Conduct product demonstrations, deliver technical presentations, and support customers through evaluation and adoption processes.
  4. Market Intelligence: Monitor competitive landscape, track market trends in single-cell, spatial, and NGS technologies, and provide regular feedback to global product and marketing teams to inform strategy.
  5. Pipeline & Forecast Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline in CRM (Salesforce or equivalent). Deliver reliable revenue forecasts and report on key performance metrics.
  6. Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborate with marketing and application science teams to plan and execute regional campaigns, scientific seminars, webinars, and conference activities (e.g., EMBO, ISMB, ASHG-Europe, national genomics meetings).
  7. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with application scientists, field service engineers, and global sales leadership to ensure seamless customer experience from initial engagement through post-sale support and consumables utilization.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or above in molecular biology, genomics, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related life science discipline. MSc or PhD strongly preferred.
  2. Minimum 4 years of direct sales experience in the life science tools industry, with a track record of selling capital equipment and consumables to academic and/or biopharma customers.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in single-cell analysis, spatial biology, next-generation sequencing (NGS), or closely related technologies.
  4. Established network and relationships within European genomics research communities, particularly in the UK, Germany, France, or Spain.
  5. Proven ability to meet or exceed sales quotas and close complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
  6. Experience with consultative selling methodologies (e.g., MEDDIC, Challenger, Solution Selling) in a technical sales environment.
  7. Proficiency in CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) and pipeline management best practices.
  8. Fluent in English (business proficiency required). Native or near-native proficiency in German, French, or Spanish is required for the corresponding territory.
  9. Willingness to travel 50–60% within assigned territory, with occasional international travel to company headquarters and global meetings.

Preferred:

  1. Prior experience at a leading genomics or life science tools company (e.g., 10x Genomics, Illumina, BD Biosciences, Bio-Rad, Nanostring, Vizgen, or similar).
  2. Experience launching or building new markets/territories in Europe for an emerging technology platform.
  3. Deep understanding of grant funding mechanisms, institutional procurement processes, and the European academic research landscape.
  4. Track record of selling into top-tier research institutions such as EMBL, Max Planck Institutes, CNRS, Francis Crick Institute, Wellcome Sanger Institute, Helmholtz Centers, INSERM, or equivalent.
  5. Knowledge of spatial transcriptomics, single-cell multi-omics, and/or microbial single-cell sequencing technologies.
  6. MBA or additional business qualification is a plus.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop relationships and drive sales across the following types of institutions in their assigned territory: Wellcome Sanger Institute, Francis Crick Institute, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, UCL, Imperial College London, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, CRUK Institutes etc.
