Senior Audit Associate

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established accountancy and advisory firm that is looking to appoint an Audit Senior Associate into its growing audit team in the Thames Valley region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified auditor, or someone close to completing their professional qualification, who is looking to build on their audit experience within a supportive, progressive, and ambitious environment.

The firm works with a broad range of clients, including privately owned businesses, corporate groups, listed entities, and entrepreneurial organisations across a variety of sectors. Due to continued growth and recent client wins, the audit team is now looking to strengthen at Senior Associate level.

This role would suit someone who enjoys high-quality audit work, client interaction, mentoring junior colleagues, and being part of a team where career progression is genuinely achievable.

The Role

As an Audit Senior Associate, you will play an important role in the delivery of external audit assignments from planning through to completion.

You will work closely with Managers, Directors, and Partners, gaining exposure to a varied client portfolio and supporting junior members of the team as they develop.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading sections of audit assignments and supporting the delivery of audits to a high standard
  • Working with a range of clients across different industries and business types
  • Preparing audit files, reviewing work, and ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and acting as a key point of contact during audit fieldwork
  • Coaching and supporting trainees and junior team members
  • Identifying issues, discussing findings with senior colleagues, and contributing to practical solutions
  • Supporting the wider audit team with planning, delivery, and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining strong technical standards while also taking a commercial and client-focused approach

About You

We are looking for someone with solid external audit experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.

You will ideally be recently qualified, or close to qualifying, with ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering external audit work within an accountancy firm
  • Strong technical audit knowledge and attention to detail
  • Confidence working with clients and building trusted relationships
  • The ability to support, guide, and motivate junior colleagues
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and career development
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive, ambitious, and professional approach
  • The ability to think beyond the audit file and contribute ideas that improve client service and team performance

This role is not only about technical ability. The firm is particularly interested in people who show drive, commercial awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine interest in developing their long-term career in audit.
