Job Description:

Principal Consultant – Marine Mammals

Location: UK Remote

Salary: Competitive

We are supporting a leading environmental consultancy in the search for a Principal Consultant – Marine Mammals to join their growing marine team working across major offshore wind and marine infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced marine mammal specialist to take a leading technical and advisory role within a highly regarded consultancy environment. The successful candidate will contribute to a broad range of projects spanning offshore wind, tidal energy, interconnectors and port developments, supporting clients through all stages of the development and consenting process.

The role will focus on leading marine mammal workstreams across Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), mitigation planning, consent applications and post-consent monitoring programmes. You will provide technical leadership across complex projects, supporting the delivery of robust and high-quality assessments for nationally significant infrastructure developments.

Alongside technical delivery, the position will involve project management responsibilities, stakeholder and client engagement, technical review of reports and mentoring junior consultants within the marine mammal team. You will also contribute to business development activities, proposal preparation and the continued growth of marine mammal services across UK and international markets.

Candidates should possess strong experience in marine mammal impact assessment, including underwater noise assessment, mitigation and monitoring approaches, alongside a solid understanding of UK and Irish marine mammal legislation. Experience delivering EIAs and HRAs for large marine infrastructure or offshore renewables projects will be essential.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary projects, build strong client relationships and provide strategic technical advice across a range of stakeholders.

Additional experience within offshore renewables, environmental consultancy, PAM data interpretation, MMO/PAM qualifications or modelling tools such as iPCOD, DEPONS or collision risk modelling would be advantageous.

In return, the organisation offers fully remote working, a collaborative and supportive culture and the opportunity to work on some of the most significant renewable energy and marine infrastructure projects currently being delivered across the sector.
