General Manager | £62,000 Basic + Bonus | Hybrid (2 days in the office, 3 from home). Are you a commercially aware, highly organised leader ready to make a real impact? We are looking for an exceptional General Manager to act as the senior operational lead for a respected not-for-profit membership organisation. In this pivotal role, you will lead day-to-day operations, improve organisational effectiveness, and help deliver key strategic priorities. We are especially keen to hear from candidates with strong operational leadership experience and a solid foundation in financial management and budgeting, ideally gained within a membership body, professional services, governance-led, or fundraising environment.

Your Role as General Manager

  • Lead operations with confidence – oversee day-to-day activity, implement operational plans, and turn strategy into clear, member-focused outcomes.
  • Drive financial and people performance – maintain strong financial controls, manage budgets effectively, and lead staff and contractors in a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Build trusted stakeholder relationships – serve as the main operational contact for members, partners, and elected officers, ensuring collaboration and confidence at every level.

What we are looking for as a General Manager

  • A proven track record in senior operational or general management, ideally within a membership body, professional services, governance-led, or fundraising organisation.
  • Strong financial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and experience leading teams through growth, change, or organisational development.
  • A calm, resilient, and exceptionally organised leadership style, with the credibility to operate at senior level.
