We are partnering with a highly reputable mid-market private equity fund with an exceptional track record in buy-and-build investing across the business services sector. The fund has built a strong reputation for scaling founder-led businesses into market-leading platforms through ambitious acquisition strategies, operational improvement, and long-term value creation.
Following continued growth and investment activity, they are looking to appoint an M&A Director to play a leading role in driving acquisition strategy and scaling one of their core buy-and-build platforms.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced M&A professional to work directly alongside an established private equity fund, experienced operators, and a portfolio leadership team, with the chance to shape and grow a high-profile platform in a fragmented and acquisitive market.
The Opportunity
This is a highly commercial and entrepreneurial role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment. You will take ownership of acquisition strategy across the platform, leading origination activity, managing transactions end-to-end, and helping drive integration and value creation initiatives post-deal.
The business is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy, with a significant pipeline of acquisition opportunities across the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help scale the platform through multiple acquisitions while working closely with the fund and senior leadership team on broader strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Origination & Relationship Management
- Lead origination activity across the business services landscape
- Build relationships with founders, advisors, and intermediaries to source off-market opportunities
- Develop and execute acquisition strategies aligned to the platform’s growth objectives
Deal Execution
- Lead transactions from initial approach through to completion
- Manage valuation analysis, due diligence, negotiation, and deal structuring
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and external advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle
Buy & Build Strategy
- Partner closely with the private equity fund, CEO, CFO, and leadership teams to scale the platform
- Support post-acquisition integration and synergy delivery
- Drive operational and strategic value creation initiatives across acquired businesses
Platform Development
- Help establish scalable acquisition and integration processes
- Support the continued professionalisation and growth of the platform
- Contribute to strategic planning and long-term expansion initiatives
Candidate Profile
- Proven M&A experience with the ability to originate and execute deals
- Proven exposure to buy-and-build strategies and acquisition-led growth
- Experience leading or heavily influencing transactions within the lower to mid-market
- Commercial and entrepreneurial mindset with strong relationship-building skills
- Ability to engage credibly with founders, investors, and senior stakeholders
- Business services sector experience is advantageous but not essential
